B.Ed. Course

The college offers two years Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) course as per NCTE (Norms and Procedure) Regulations, 2014 to both pre-service (fresher) and in-service (approved by Govt.  of West Bengal and duly deputed) teachers adhering to the curriculum approved by Baba Saheb Ambedkar Education University (Erstwhile The West Bengal University of Teachers’ Training, Education Planning and Administration). Apart from the core course a candidate has to study one of the following school subjects which he/she has studied at the UG/PG level with at least 300 marks -

  1. Life Science (Zoology, Botany and Physiology only)
  2. Physical Science (Physics and Chemistry only)
  3. Mathematics
  4. Language (Bengali and English only)
  5. Social Science (History, Geography and Education only)

 

Medium of Instructions: Bengali and English only.

Course Duration: The B.Ed. Course shall be of duration of two years, which can be completed in a maximum of three years from the date of admission to the course.

Total Seat: The total seat in this course is 50.

Eligibility for Admission:

  • Candidates should be graduated in a school subject from a recognized University.
  • Candidates (both Deputed & Fresher) with at least 50% marks (45% for SC/ST/PWD), in aggregate, considering all the subjects studied and passed out either in Bachelor’s Degree and/or in Master’s Degree in Mathematics/Science/Social Science/Language (in subjects as specified).
  • Bachelors in Engineering or Technology with specialization in Science and Mathematics, with 55% marks (50% for SC/ST/PWD) against a minimum total of 300 marks question paper or any other qualification equivalent thereto are eligible for admission to the B.Ed. Course in Mathematics method only.
  • For candidates with less than 50% marks in the honours degree, the total marks of pass and honours subjects will be considered.
  • Reservation of seats for SC/ST/OBC-A & B/PWD (Minimum disability 40%) candidates will be as per Govt. Rules.
  • Relaxation of 5% in the qualifying marks will be allowed in graduation or post-graduation in case of SC/ST/PWD (Minimum disability 40%) candidates. That is, in such cases minimum 45% marks will be required instead of 50% marks.
  • Age limit: Age of Fresher candidate would be less than 38 years (relaxation as per Govt. of West Bengal rules)
